Foreheads & Brick Walls

Forehead, meet brick wall 🧱
Tips for Clinical Innovators and Avoiding Burnout

I was on a call last week and my new connection used an amazing phrase.
He had been a clinician for many years in the NHS
Avid innovator but was hitting roadblock after roadblock

“After a while, your forehead becomes flat after hitting it against the brick wall”

OUCH - that one landed!

And it’s so true
As Innovators, we sometimes feel like it’s an uphill battle

It feels like Brick Wall after Brick Wall AKA
→ Administrative or Bureaucratic blocks
→ Low buy in from other staff
→ Lack of time or funds

If you are a clinician innovator AND you want to avoid burnout
→ start with a real pain point you experience
→ go after the low hanging fruit of small practice optimization
→ engage in projects within your locus of control
→ find allies in admin, colleagues and other staff
→ wait to scale until your implementation has proven to work
